Physical therapy is best suited for patients needing 1:1 exercise therapy and strengthening, particularly for those recovering from surgery or experiencing significant weakness due to injury. Physical therapy takes an exercise-based approach. Balanced Livermore prioritizes manual, hands-on therapy, addressing areas of pain, tension and dysfunction. We specialize in a range of techniques targeting muscles and tissues, including soft tissue and fascial releases, stretches, and active release technique (ART). We also provide personalized at-home exercises to support your progress beyond the clinic. While we may review exercises during your appointment, it is not the main focus of our appointments.

Our clinic provides chiropractic care combined with physiotherapy modalities, which not only leads to quicker pain relief but most importantly, addresses the root cause of the pain or injury. It's not uncommon for chiropractic appointments to be 2-5 minutes in length, but research shows that adjustments alone do not fix or prevent injuries. Our returning visits are a combination of adjustments, soft tissue (muscle work), traction, exercise guidance, and much more.

The short answer is, no! While adjustments can be a powerful tool for many areas of concern, they are also not needed, nor required, for every condition we treat. Simply put, they are one tool in our toolbox. 

We understand that some patients may prefer not to be adjusted, or request that certain areas not be adjusted. Because of the diverse range of modalities we offer, we are still able to treat patients effectively. We also offer low force alternatives to adjusting, such as the activator tool, for patients who prefer this type of adjustment or have health conditions that make traditional adjustments unsafe.

We offer a few options for patients without chiropractic benefits, or who have a high deductible plan. Our private pay rate sheet can be viewed here. We accept both FSA and HSA cards with no additional fees. 

Unfortunately, Kaiser does not cover services at our clinic but we do offer a Kaiser discount to active policy holders. No referral from your primary care doctor is needed to make an appointment. View our Kaiser rates here.

While x-rays can be a useful diagnostic tool in certain cases, such as a broken bone, scoliosis or osteoporosis, most patients do not require them for a proper diagnosis and safe treatment.  Instead, we use research backed muscle and posture testing to diagnose your injuries and create a personalized care plan that is tailored to your individual needs. If x-rays are required, we will refer you out for proper imaging.

Your first visit to Balanced Livermore will include both an exam and treatment. Please plan on being in the office for 1 to 1.5 hours - follow-up visits will be 30 minutes. Your first visit will start with a thorough exam, muscle testing, and a treatment plan designed to target the root cause of your pain or injury. At the completion of your initial exam, we will be ready to start your first treatment! Your treatment will start with 10 minutes of electrical stimulation (also known as muscle stim), and heat to warm-up the area of concern prior to being worked on. The remainder of your treatment will be a combination of chiropractic work, stretching, muscle / deep tissue work, therapeutic exercises, cupping, and/or k-tape. Which therapies are used will be determined by the Dr., and will only be used when it is safe and necessary to do so.
